440 or 400

ok so i got an engine for my quad . i go riding with my buddys all the time but there 450s blow this thing away . its runs awsome so running issues. but my question is did i got a 400 and not a 440 how do i tell...

Stock engines are 432cc

All dales were a 432cc engine from the factory regardless of what the decals say. Yes if its stock your looking at 35 to 38 horsepower . Most 450's nowaydays have over 40 horse so ya unless you port the head you will never catch or beat them. When Dales came out the only competition was a 400ex and hybrids which were easy to outpower .

thanks for the fast response. the engine i have in there i was told was a walsh 440 but. i only paid 500 for it. my enging was wasted. broke a valve wasted the head and so much stuff was wrong with it that it was better for me to just buy a one.
