I seem to remember coming across this as a known issue on the "other" now deceased 'Dale forum but details evade me. (It wasn't an issue of mine at the time).

With the sloshing of riding, lots of fuel is spilling from around the cap onto my crotch. laugh.gif Zero improvement after fitting a shiny new OEM "Dale gas cap. The threads of the tank seem just fine with no distortion or damage of the lip, either.

What was the fix for this my foggy memory is keeping from me?

The stock cap is fine with an improved seal. I have the bonded aftermarket seals around $3 can check, right here in AZ. Does your new cap have ANY seal?

If you want s shiny billet gas cap, a Polaris Predator cap fits our tanks like they were made for em, that's what I have on my Dale now, and NO leaks.

In a pinch Ive made seals out of radiator cap seals. The stock one can seal OK if you dont tighten it to tight but crank it down and it distorts opening up a gap and many times breaking the cap. So try that until you get a good seal.
