I've been running 14/37 with the moto/speed, and now just the 03'moto, mine seems to like the gearing alot.

For woods riding the Blaze map is awesome!I run 13-42 for harescrambles. The smaller sprocket does wear the slider more but it isnt going to wear though in just one race.Well worth it if the trail is real tight. The extra rpm limit of the blaze map will make up for any top speed loss with lower gearing compared to cannibal map.
For mx,tt and ovals I either run 14-39 or 15-39 for the really big tracks like Iowa or 1/2 mi oval.
I only weigh 140 lb. so I can start all these gearing combos in third gear.15-39 is tough to do 3rd gear starts and the quad will just barely pull fifth gear.14-37 sound like a good compromise.
Stock chain links works for all these gear combos.

Yeah actually it is a good compromise, I ran a 13/38 for awhile, but the quad seemed like it was bound up by the gearing, if that makes any sense. It didn't roll as freely as I thought it should. I felt it was holding back the motor, it revved really high and wanted shifted, making the first three gears useless. So I added the 14, and it dramatically improved. It seemed to roll into the turns with greater speed, and the power was being used mainly in third and fourth, rather than fourth and fifth with the 13 on the front. It actually begain to feel mroe like my 250r did, except with way more bottom end, and a much friendlier powerband.

BTW I race alot of fast mx tracks, so any woods racers should probably disregard this as a good gearing solution for what they want to do.

I know the manual says not to mess with it but I set my idle up and it made a huge difference. It doesn??????????????????t stall and it made a big improvement on the cross-country dead engine starts. It used to stall if I went full throttle as soon as it started and now it doesn??????????????????t, maybe my idle was slow before but this might help someone else too.

Map Select

#20 Post by KYmxracer52 »

Knight440 I like the map select quite a bit now. When I first got it, I thought it was useless. But when I got on tracks with different terrain, I thought it was great.smile.gif I have Team Nac's map in it and the other two are based on the Nac's map, but just tamed down a lot. Helps a lot when the track gets worn and slick.

I got the Maint. & Diagnostic Kit and the Map Select. Got both of them from Nac's. I get good deals with them since they sponsor me, but I don't know exactly how much they both are retail......I think Maint & Diagnostic Kit= $300 Map Select=$800. Not exactly sure on those.
