Engine Reliability

#1 Post by EricM »

I have never gotten around to getting the blaze map put in and now I am wondering if it is a good idea. I am in the rev limiter quite often and would like to raise it, but the extra rpms have to reduce the engine life just not sure how much. Also wondering if the power will necessarily be a good thing, the local cross-country races are very tight, muddy, steep and rough. I have noticed the power advantage is much less important in an hour and a half race and it tends to wear me out much quicker. I would appreciate it if anyone has any knowledge that they can pass along.

With an HMF exhaust, I'd recommend doing something. You have to be running lean. Running harescrambles though, the only time I'm in the high revs is the very few straight aways. The Blaze mapping is an excellent map. Adds good midrange power, and lessens the higher RPM hit. Smooth torquer power, rips around trees and over anything. Just make sure your idle speed is above 2,000 rpms!
