The success of USB to Serial adapters has been hit-and-miss among various adapters and computers. The best way is buy the adapter at Radio Shack and keep your receipt.
I know that one has worked for some laptops, and RS will let you return it if the packaging is not damaged.

I have the D&M Kits in stock, new and sealed,... just email for $$.

I use a usb to serial adapter on my laptop and it works fine. Although I would like to mention that it has been stated that hex codes cannot be loaded with a usb to serial adapter.

Scooter claims it is absolutly impossible to load a hex code with a serial adapter and I agree. Get a laptop with a 9 pin port and save the agrivation.

hex? is the hex the pin you used to "decode" each individual bike?

The hex is the operating system of the quads computer. Sometimes it get corrupted or needs to be updated and needs to be reloaded. Cant do it with a serial adapter. You can change maps and do everything else with a serial port. That is if you go through the sometimes monumental task of installing and setting up the serial port adapter . its not as bad as getting the D@M program to work.LOL

you should be able to try the printer port adapter as well. Haven't seen where anyone has tried that.

Now that looks interesting. I may have to try one of those.
