We did it to all the quads in the wintertime (turned screw)and it sure seemed to help starting.Maybe by going so much FX400 maybe by going a 1/4 turn you went to far and are actually leaner? We were warned not to move it much at all.The mill tool for sure works as Iceracer was able to tune the lean spots right out of his on the dyno with o2 sensor.

turned a 3.906 in 200 feet today. my best run so far. I think cannonboomer's air filter setup and coil setup helped quite a bit.

THis thread is bogus. The potentiaometer screw in thefront of the unit is not connected to the ecm. It has no effect no matter what you do to it. The rev limiter in the bike ecm is higher but dyno results show it doesnt seem to have a stronger map in it. Any other questions. Unlike the 1000 the 500 also holds its codes for diagnostic purposes.

All I know is the bike 500 ecu made difference on front straight of a TT I ran. Pulled harder and with higher redline was able to make it to next corner without hitting rev limiter. As for the adjuster. Back then everyone including Cannondale said it made quad run better with a slight adjustment. Unless you took one apart to see that its not actually hooked up it would be news to me.

why would there be a "dummy" screw on a ecm if it didnt do anything?Im kinda trusting C27s word on his experience with this one,now i am curious..

Like I said I never took one apart. We had starting issues in winter and the factory told us to adjust that screw.Sure seemed to help. They did warn us not to go more than a 1/4 turn.
