use the power for the common good

Jacobw I think that is what I'm doing.Doug went to a specialist who just threw stuff out without research and charged top dollar.Cannondales have little or no other after market options and alot of times we get taken advantage of because of it with underpar products and because small volume little or no research is put into it because to long term or real money for investment.4 out 4 failure is bad!Look at the pics.If it were 1 out 4 or even 2 out of 4 you wouldn't see this post.

arghh... this a little more than annoying. I am i nthe same boat as hook. My bike has been down for over a year. Just put in the new kibblewhite valves and springs, which I waited to get. Now I hear I need to yank my engine again and take the springs out?!?! This is not something I am looking forward to at all. As in is it even worth me taking it apart again? The engine removal process is just to painful on these things to be pullng the engine all the time.

I should have questioned why I had to put such large valve shims in when I put it together. Well that question has now been answered.

Ughhh  Well at least Im not alone in this situation. I just wish this post had come out a day earlier, my motor would have still been out of the frame haha. I was ready to fill everything up with fluids and fire it up for the first time in a year and three months tonight!

So as is my motto to find something positive out of these types of situations if possible. At least I will be all the more versed in pulling these motors and then reinstalling them. Thank you for bringing this to the light Tim, although it makes me want to kill bunnies, I would rather have comfort in putting in a tested product into my machine than a REAL ticking time bomb. Kudos to you man, and standing behind your work

Think it's time for a :drink:

Guys, the Kibblewhites are just seeming weird to us. I don't think we can say 100% that they are bad for the motors but we can give a suggestion one way or the other. Don't know why they are leaning so bad (going to look into that one). The only thing we found is the amount of pressure they are useing is very high compared to the stockers. Is this bad? Well, some cam people have said the the poundage isn't such a problem if the cams are hardened properly. Some have said the poundage is too high. And then our stock cams hardness being questionable just adds to the mix. I will bet there are many stock cams out there that were/are hardened correctly that will run find with the kibblewhites. But, then there will be some cams that are softer or worn more that will succumb to the increased pressure from the springs. There is just no way to tell. I personally won't run them and had a failure from a local kid with them already. Don't know if it was the springs or not but we can't find any other reason. Maybe the cams just wore the heck out, don't know.

Its just a shame. But on a good note, Greg from CWR is taking a look at other springs and even R&D and is sending some more up to test as we speak. Don't know if that means he will warrenty or not but we will see. He is a nice guy but looks like things just went haywire on all ends.

Now all this info has come out of the dark I feel more confident that the top end problems will be solved sooner than later.

Happyboy you are forgeting about the keepers pulling into the retainers of gold style retainers for sure. That is with stock valves which would have less pressure than Kibblewhite valves which have the keeper groove lower than stock valves.Plus the big misfit shim that was used which moves around and could allow spring seat to ****.Time to say I give and just pullem out.Not worth chance of ruining a good stock cam for sure.

Wistech it may be solved already with just shimming stock springs like you did.Definitly need for Cams though. Is your moto springs shimmed. If so we need to check them cause I know you have been running 11,800 and wringing the crap out of that stock motor.
