What combination of gearing would work the best to out run 450 honda atv at 100 yard drag race. The c dale has timbo crank,97mm big bore kit, light porting.Honda has power up kit, different pipe, stock gearing.C dale gets out run on top end,14 front sprocket,40 rear,20x10.00 x9 rear tires.Honda may have something in engine we dont know about? Any ideas?

If its an 06 450r then he is probably just got more power. If your crank is a stroker then you should be close to matching the Honda on torque but without a seriously ported head your top end is going to taper off bad. Are you in 5th gear at the 300ft line?

Yup especially against the 06 450r's.They make real good power.

My son was the one racing with him.I think he was in 5th gear because he said the gap between 4th and 5th really hurt him.I just thought maybe the honda had a little taller gearing. The cdale would get him for the first 100 ft or so.He just hates to get out run by a honda, and since its his best friend theres no hard feelings.C Dale used to dust his modified 400 ex.I have engine down rt. now for a weird vibration in it,timbo is checking my crank and stuff for me,just wondered if i could squeeze a couple more horses out of this thing, while i have it apart.

you have 14/40 gearing??? seems a bit hight for drag racing... put a 13T (13/40= to about a 14/42.5) on the front and you pull 5th easy... personally i dont how that honda should even come close to you.
