We had a cam bearing explode in an engine and luckily it was one I had been exerimenting using a small magnet near the drain hole to the scavange pump. Every single ball bearing ,most of the cage and a part of the race was all stuck to that little magnet. Had one ball bearing fallen down into the scavange pump it would have siezed that up to. Funny the engine was still running with no support on one side of the cam. It had a little clatter to it though.LOL

How are you attaching the magnet on the inside of the head so it doesn't slip around?

I attached it using the good old waker t44 silicone down at the floor of the head between the left side valve springs. To bad one ball made its way under a cam lobe and put a tiny dent in the top of the lobe otherwise there was no other damage.
