As many of you know the 460 stock crank engine I built yielded some spectacular power and torque numbers using the new exhaust camshafts. To verify that it all wasnt just in the porting and cp piston I ran the exhaust cam in the 470 stroker motor a few weeks ago and then reinstalled the stock cams back in it for yesterdays runs. Everything was the same including the cam timing and gas that in the tank which was 110 pump gas. I kind of figured the results would be this way. The SAS has lost several Hp from last year. I would atribute it to having wear on the rings and piston from a normal wear and tear smile.gif plus having all that metal from 2 case failures and one main bearing failure.(thanks winky mad.gif ) Yes the old wiseco and sleeve wasnt looking the greatest but its a dyno engine and premium parts are never to be . Looks like the dyno shows the high lift exhaust cams are worth 3 hp on this engine with a little extra boost on top end. I would like to see some intake cams that would compliment the exhausts.
Runs 77,78,79 are with the prototype cams . The other 3 are stock.

that looks like a close 3hp throught the rpm range improvement. looks good

Wistech something isnt right.Look at this chart and notice how the begining starts at same point.See if doing it with rpm yields same.

Wistech look at the AFR of both.Thats why its 3hp thoughout whole range. Its no wonder my 450 beat yours without nitrous. You forgot to tune yours.

Yes look at red, blue, green they start off so rich its off chart and majority of range are full point away from your cam test runs. They also follow the hp curve really close.Actually the 83,84,and 85 Look like a hp curve not a AFR.You have that one oddball AFR from the prototype cams and that one is also the lowest hp of that test.It cannot be a coincidence.Back to the dyno with you.Gotta have as good a AFR with the FX cams as you did with Prototypes.I could go friday.Oh and bring bigger Jets tongue.gif

Ive been running the cams in my quads ever since and testing them with pressure fed bearings as well to to see how they hold up. Need more abuser time. The windows in the cam covers sure pay for themselves . Ill have a few more engines built soon to dyno test as well.
