FYI, the pivot pin side clearance on the used cam above is .008"
and the New cam is .006"... so with shimwashers in maybe high grade stainless at .006+ and .004+ that feels fairly tough still, at least comparing to a stainless feeler gauge.... if you want to go as tight as .001" final clearance with a broader head contact, even better -- if flyweight still free enough to function. Maybe .005" would be thinnest we have to find. Anyway, I'll check if the shimwashers are even available in assorted thickness, and will target at 12mm OD -- what ID would we need? thanks again.

Ive been shooting for less than a .001" side play at the pin. This keeps play at the other end to less than .020". The pin diameter is .230" . A 1/4 " shim might be readily available.

At quick look at readily available shimwashers in stainless 18-8 are:

.234 x .303 x .005" only, and:

.25 x .375 x .003, .004, .005, .006, .008 <----looks promising to try these maybe, at least on my own two trial shafts can send you with shims .... just about same OD as our current pin head, at least not rounded on underside where the contact is made -- I'll keep checkin around. As for that lever that can come loose on the pivoting rod, that looks to be much more invasive procedure right? -- only for a "fix" and not preventative?, or can you just check for tightness before that decision?

That tiny little pin I believe is a 2mm so removing and installing it is kind of tough . And breaking it off while pressing the assembly off the shaft might damage the backing plate. Grinding out the cam gear guide pin holes is way easier and doesnt stress anything.

The pivot part number from ATK is 5000878
The tiny pivot screw is a 3mm .5 pitch countersunk head screw 10mm long.

Hey guys.... does anyone have one of the early exhaust cams for sale? I need one and don't want to switch over to the 1000 system. I am very happy with my 500 system but it can only work with an old style cam.

Man I got screwed! Mine has no decomp lever on it. I wonder why they switched? I have a stock z cam laying around with the decomp lever still on it. I don't know if that helps.
