flywheel side crank seal
what size is this beast?im gonna try to go downtown and get one from the local bearing/seal shop.

Yep, the later stock seals are 7mm wide and double-lipped, but the sealing area of the shaft is less than 7mm, so the outer lip of these seals tend to not make good sealing contact -- far too many SSM cases have chronic oozing leaks!!!, and most all from the factory have had the 7mm wide seal, so they are actually only "single-lip" effective... I recently bought a stock of the 5mm double-lips to use on BOTH styles of cranks. I stock backer O-rings to compensate for the extra space between the narrower seal and the stator spacer -- so far so good.
For the earlier motors, most had the 5mm seal from the factory. BEWARE seals kits -- do you KNOW what you are getting?

I haven't got around to finding a 1/16" shimwasher to add behind our stator spacer, but you can set these seals inward up to 2mm farther.
