Check Your Engines!!!!!!!!!!!!

#1 Post by moto440man »

I have a 2002 Moto 440 and it is exactly 1 year old. I was out practicing this past weekend and on my last practice session, the bike was idling and was getting ready to get on the track and all of a sudden my motor stop with a sudden thug. It wouldn't turn over at all. I took it apart last night and it looks like one of the stud bolts from the crankcase cartridge plate and multiple bolts from the transmission cartidge plate backed out and caused a bunch of damage. The motor isn't torn down all the way yet. There is metal shavings all over the place. Has anyone had this happen to them? Everyone better check these. I couldn't believe this would happen after a year of hard riding. It looks like I will be spending a lot of money to fix this. This bike sure is AWESOME to ride. I have attached a few pics to show you the damage.

Man that sucks!

My Speed is a about a year old and I haven't checked it yet. Everything I heard was if the bolts where going to back out they would do it early and I shouldn't worry after this long. I guess I'll be checking them now.

ok, what's it take to tear into this to examine the bolt?

Can you walk through the very basic steps?

Thanks

Hey moto, are those 2 allen bolts in your last picture backed out that much on their own or did you loosen them?
