i live in illinois, i want to try racing. where can i go to do this? what do i need on a 400ex to be race ready?

You need a tether kill switch and nerf bars. The rest is all optional.

yep, got both. and i have a number plate. this was all put on by the last owner. he said he never raced it, i dont belive it.

i'll have to fix the top end before anything, i got a tick noise and it leaks oil

How old are you? can make a difference in what class you can run.

My 400ex always had a small tick. Actually everone I have ever seen ticked a little. Not saying that yours is alright. Checking everything out before you start racing is highly recommended. If you're looking to do xc racing, you're pretty much there in the equipment department.
