Well as it turns out I will not be rocking the Dale in the 30A class. Last lap in practice today I was coming up to a step up and the machine locked up solid as I came off the face of the jump. NOT GOOD. I thought I lost the chain and it locked up the rear wheels. Unfortunately when getting off the machine I noticed oil pouring out.

The wrist pin snapped and actually half of it got shot out the front of the case. I managed to find the half of the wristpin on the track! There was no blueing indicating heat, but I will find out when I tear it apart. Pappy from ATVriders was right there snapping pics and I think he managed to get a good one of me standing there with pieces of my motor in my hand.

Guess I will just need to build the next one a little faster. Anyone else have a CP wristpin let go? Certainly worthy of the halls of destruction

Sure will. This is my first real catastrophic failure I have had. Not too shabby with all the hours I have on my machines and racing them. The only thing that really sucks is my unicorn case is JUNK sad.gif

There are upgraded wristpins from CP.I believe only $15 more. Was only supposed to be needed with nitrous but with these ticking bombs whats another $15 to have some safety especially for the strokers and higher hp motors.2000ex do you know if this crank had the bronze bushing in it?That would also help since there is a lot of cases where there is some gaulling on the wristpins even with the Wiseco pins.Bronze bushing takes care of that.Think about it.Any gauling is caused by a mini siezure!

Yeah it was a bronze bushed rod from timbo. Hopefully it did not destroy the head. I called Tim on my way home and left him a message. I think I will send him the crank to inspect.

I will definitely need a new piston and sleeve smile.gif I literally came to rest where you see my machine and I turned around and found that half a wristpin lying on the track. Poor thing sad.gif
