Hi yall,

was just going through the forums... so are the 400ex hubs a drop in change for the moto axle? (looking at hiper 8x8's and of course they only come 3+5)

They will fit but extremely tight. I had to heat one with a torch till it was red to remove it. I antisiezed it before installing it and it didnt help. Id stay away .

I can't comment on the moto axle as I'm running the Lonestar. So cannondale lonestar axle and I have the original integrated hub Honda Hipers. They are a snug fit going on and off but not as bad as Wistech has experienced. I usually just have to kind of rock them back and forth and they come off. Keep in mind I've had these rims for almost 5 years now (gotta love hipers) so they may be a little worn in. Plus the Lonestar splines may be a little more forgiving then the Moto Axle splines.

Yamaha and Cannondale also interchange but its opposite of the Honda fit Wistech described. When putting Cannondale hubs on Yamaha they are a very tight fit.Dont plan on taking them off without a puller.Cannondale hubs on Yamaha gives a 1/2in more each side.If you put the Yamaha hubs on Dale they are easy fit but you lose a 1/2in each side.Like said by Pete it all depends on spline wear and also fit of splines if aftermarket axle.

450r hubs work perfectly. I did NOT have to beat mine on with a mallet. I didn't weigh them but they felt lighter too.

My honda hubs were stock 400ex going on a stock short axle. I never tried them on a moto axle. They do make the quad a inch or so wider .

Are 450r hubs wider than Dales?

I don't know about the the 450r's but I guess that's one of the few ways to get your width back when you go with a 3+5 wheel in the rear (Hiper only makes that offset in the 8x8)

The 450r hubs extend the width. I tried them because I bought some used hipers that were Honda offset. Now I'm back to stock width.
