+3's man that must be nice. I slam off of things at stock. The harescrambles around here some obstacles are barely big enough to fit the quad.

I am looking into things all the time, but keep changing mymind back to stock.

When I called Houser about thier +1 long travel arms for the 16" shocks, they told me not to run the stock CDale shocks. They said that they had problems with the stock shocks on the LT arms. They didn't tell me what the problem was, but you may want to call them to find out before you order a set.

I don't mean to jump in so late in the conversation. But what would be the correct size a arm to choose if I wanted to get out close to 50" but NOT over?

And how much does the +1 forward make when choosing the a arm?

There are alot of variables

Wheel offset? stock or 4/1, there is a 2" difference
shocks and amt of sag can have an effect as well

I think most run +3 with 4/1 wheels and are right at 50" depending on sag.

Yeah Jay is correct. There are a lot of variables that can cause the overall width the change.

As a very general rule of thumb, a 4+1 wheel on +3 a-arms will be close to 50", and a 3+2 wheel on +2 a-arms will be close to 50".
Ok, here is my machine with +2 a-arms with 3+2 wheels.

Here is my machine with +3 a-arms with 4+1 wheels.

Here is the comparison pic +2 vs. +3. Both side have 4+1 wheels.

To add to the other part of your question plus 1 forward I think helps with bump steer. I hope I am correct.tongue.gif

I thought the same As derno did, but the +1 was origionally made for the later yeard 250Rs who had a 1 inch shorter swingarm, or somethign like that. so what would that have to do with cannondales or anything? and whatd be the point on our quads?

i know my quad handles awesome with my old set up ( diamond racnig +2-1/2 A-arms and 2+3 Wheels at 49 inches, and now with my elkas im riding right at 50. and i can't wait to try out this new set up

My Walsh +3 arm's are caster & camber adjustable and can run standard or +1 forward and take standard shocks. He also makes LT arms also. With 2x3 rims and 20" mx tires it measures 50" wide
