Thats just it. The Hiems are really inconsistent fitting even when new some are nice and some are sloppy and some are too tight. I will check Yamaha ends just remind me Roger. I think thread on '06 and newer might be same as our tie rods and the joint are just like Honda.

It's been 2-3 years since I have bought hiems. One set is Black Widows, the cheap ones were just plain steel from Motion Industries. Are you lubing the open hiems with oil? I'd stop that. Oil will just bind with dirt and wear them out. Use a dry lube. The boots were from that dude on Ebay but I have not seen an auction in forever.

We said some were too sloppy or too tight when new and right about when tight ones start to loosen up the loose ones are really sloppy. Its a Hiem manufacturing thing. They arent consistant.

I have some info from my experiments last night. The honda and dale threads on the tie rods are not the same, close, but not the same. The threads on the tie rod end posts are not the same. I attempted to take the stock length tie rods and ends from a '05 honda 450r and put them on a cannibal. The length would have been very close, however, the ends sit too high on the steering stem plate. You can't turn the bars to the stops because the ends hit the frame first. A rod end with a shorter rise would probably work. The rod end itself fit very nice and snug into the stem plate. Thats the end of my experimenting. I need to ride, not wrench. Anybody out there have some high quality cannandale tie rod ends that won't wilt just from looking at them?

On my test ride after all this work, one of my vaccum/vent hoses managed to get caught up in the throttle and stick it wide open. That was quite a ride for about 3 seconds.

Pulled the tether. Then I had to go change my underwear.

Here you go Roger. I believe these will work. Will need to get correct size taper reamer tomorrow. I measure stock rodend hieght at about 1 1/16". These are same. And stock Cannibal tie rod length is same also. Must get '06 YFZ or Raptor rods, ends and castle nuts. Earlier versions like on Banshee and '04, '05 YFZ. Had smaller threads and broke easy. I had these on my old Banshee for 6 years and they never wore out. YFZ for two. Raptor is 4 years old now. So they last.

Roger,
We don't have the reamer at work. I believe this one should work. If you want to go in halves I will order it. Kinda pricy. May check Fastenal also.

I'll ask the mechanics at work if they have anything like this.
