steering stem bearing

Well, after the crash at Sidney, I finally got to the job of changing the steering stem. WOW, what a job, I found the downside of putting the fuel pump under the ecu. I got the job done, but I have a problem, how does the bearing suppose to come off of the stem. I know the quad hit upside down pretty hard because I can throw the steering stem and it will come back. Kind of boomeranged the stem. Is that bearing suppose to come off pretty hard or does it need to be pulled?,,,,I am at a quandry and could use some help.:confused:

Its supposed to be a slip fit.But could be rusted or even bent.Any puller should get it off.But when new one goes on it should slide on without any real pressure.

Thank you sir, I would bet it is jammed on there pretty good. My biggest concern was putting a puller on there and breaking the bearing. But if it is just a push on deal, then maybe it will come off before breaking.

I've put them upside down in my vise with a loose fit, and tapped it with a brass mallet. Downside, stem falls on the floor and almost always finds your toes....:mad:

LOL, funny you should say that. I broke the puller, cheap malasian metal, so I did just that, and my foot broke its fall pretty good. I should have read your post first, I would have taken a pillow with me. LOL
