Best Shocks for me?

#1 Post by mountainman10 »

I was wondering what kind of shocks you guys would reccomend for me? I do a lot of really agressive trail riding and would like to upgrade my suspension. I currently have the speed ohlins. Would it help me a lot to get some adjustable shocks? I wouldn't mind spending the money if it will make a big difference, but if it would be a minor change I will just stick with my current setup. I don't want to drop a grand into the shocks and I hear works are a pretty good budget shock. So what would you guys reccomend?

Yah I have my first set of elkas and they are not bad at all. I have Houser +3 arms and and Quadrate elkas and my crf and they are pretty darn nice. And before I had Axis dual rates on my ex. The elkas are just as good and cheaper. Will hold up as well as Axis? I dont know time will tell. Oh yah one thing about the elkas I dont like is you can feel the darn clicks worth a darn.

What would be a good price for the elka's? I would like to have them set up for my weight and riding style.

The Ohlins are pretty good shocks. You can always just upgrade them to a dual spring setup for around $200, I've heard you can even add a ZPS spring.

What kind of problems are you having with your current setup? or what improvements do you need?

Ohlins - (828) 692-4525

you need

2 Crossover sleeves 03281-01
4 stop washers 00154-11
2 spring washers 00115-01

and 2 short black springs, don't have the part # handy.

Here is a a couple pics of the Elka conversion that I'm running on my Blaze. It converts over to SSD and works great! Really soaks up all the little nasties and does very well jumping too!
Its a sock one next to the one with the conversion.
