Swingarm Bolt

#1 Post by btolenti »

How in the world do you remove the swingarm bolt! I took the nut and washer off one side, and tapped on that end, hoping it would come out, but no luck. Does it take quite a bit of force to remove? I would hate to use too much and damage the aluminum frame! Has anyone else run into this situation? Is it okay to use a hammer to remove this bolt?

Thanks,

Brandon

be very careful here... you've probably got shot swingarm pivot bushings. i would make a pin out of steel on a lathe that was a bit smaller than the bolt and turned down on the end to fit the hole in bolt to keep it centered and whale away at it. if you can support the frame on the other side it would be a good idea. It should come out with LESS than nail hammering force.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't damage anything doing this.
