The genius from mx-tech came up with a way of lengthening the stroke of the rear shock by almost an inch I think, but after doing so, someone discovered that the chain will bind under full extension. The end result was a very minimal increase in stroke is possible, but I doubt worth the trouble. So I guess my suggestion to you if you try doing this, would be to watch out for that.
Try doing a search. The post is on here some place. As Roger mentioned, there were some binding issues and I believe they ended up just scratching the idea.
The stock travel is great, what could be improved is the leverage ratio's. A smoother progression instead of really soft followed by really hard last few inches of travel. Longer shocks typically never have more travel they just allow for better spring rates and valving possibilities.
Did I read somewhere that the stock rears had Ohlins pds system? If so that is why it gets so much stiffer in the last few inches. It could be remied by having someone revalve the rear a little lighter on the upper piston. I may be wrong on it being pds though?
yeah that's why it's so stiff at the finish. I for one like the initial plushness but the good bottom resistance, but then, I'm a GNCC racer and 2/3 of my travel is sag anyway lol.
