I have the solid one and it has been bullet proof.

the hollow ones were an early design and will crack.

The earlier ones with the open center may be just a little lighter but not too much. They would work best for drag racing or maybe some light duty trail riding. Both of my quads originally had the open swingarm but I changed out mine to solid ones for mx use.

Also on a side note. There can be another difference between swingarms. Most of the earlier ones have a 10mm shock bolt hole and some of the later ones have a 12mm.

Also the early ones for the pivot bolt bearings doesn't have a steel sleeve tout side the bearing for better support.

And the latest design swingarm does not have the "hole/opening" were the pivot bearings are pressed into, for better support.
