Mx tire question???????? Help!!!

Tire width and rim width should go together. to be honest its been a few years and we tried a few different tires so I could have things confused so take them with a big grain of salt. I am thinking we put the 18-9.50-8s on the moto wheels and maybe ran two weekends with them. I think the rims were so much wider than the tires that the rims and sidewalls were taking a beating. maybe someone else who tried putting the 9.5s on the moto rims will chime in here. He's not racing anymore and has long whore out the tamers and we have the factory wholeshots on the rims now but, I took a look at them today and even the 11's look narrow on those wheels. I do think the 11 tamers looked wider as far as foot print
