Front Hubs

Are the Cannondale front hubs identical to a 400ex? I messed up the threads on a hub and was wondering if my extra 400ex hub will work as a replacement.

Good question, I know the bearings are the same. So I guess if the offset, width and rotor diameter is the same then they should work. Give it a shot!

I am not sure I will check, but I remember something about the spindle not fitting right. If it works use it though. Just don't let your first test ride be at a race and you should be ok....

I also believe the 400 ex front makes your quad wider. Not much just a little.

Talk to Big Winky about that, the spindle is different and it has to change to run the EX stuff I believe. He explained it to me when I was looking at a 400EX front end ... and we decided it was a bad idea.

What are my stock hubs worth? :deal:

I know you can use all of the 400 ex stuff though. Like if you used the spindles and hubs and go to a complete 400 ex front end. You will have to modify it a little bit though.

When you start swaping arms and spindles from one model to another, you get into problems!

I agree with Jeff on this one. Winky said the front end pushed and the geometry just wasn't quite right. I think that is because the 'Dale is forward and inch of an EX or something like that ...

Again, what are my stock hubs worth? :deal:

I wasn't talking about the arms and such just spindles and rotors....If you wanted to do the arms too you could just get camber castor adjustable one to correct that problem though.

I know it keeps getting more expensive. My answer to all problems keep throwing money at it. It will go away....biggrin.gif smile.gif

another problem you run into is tie rod angles. Can't fix that with adjustable arms.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I may need to buy another stock hub. If only I could find a good deal on some used Cannondale hubs...
