I personaly go with 3/8" on both. My toe in overall measurement is 3/8 of an inch smaller at the front of the front tires than the measurement taken at the back of the front tires. Then I take a carpenters framing square and stand it up like an "L" next to the tire just touching the lower sidewall. Then I adjust the upper ball joint so that I measure 3/8" gap between the closest part of the sidewall on the top half of the tire and the square while keeping the square touching lower sidewall and the floor. This is all done with the quad sitting under its own weight on a level floor.
You will have to keep checking your measurements as you go because changing one will effect the other. I hope this helps!
