I just snagged a set of the hym joint boots off ebay and was wondering if any of you are using them and how are they holding up. The rubber looks to be a little on the thin side to me but I guess it has to be that way to allow stretching for the instalation. Do they hold grease in OK or does it ooze out after a while. I plan on trying them out on a new set of cheapo $5 hiems to see if they will make them last.

They work pretty good! I'd suggest sticking a zip-tie around the end on the tie rod, helps hold the grease in. With the tie on, there's very little seepage. Make sure you use small ties and put the lock piece on the bottom on the inner rod ends. Otherwise, they can hit the frame and they'll pop off.

These are great on the kevlar rod ends, keeps 'em moving smooth as silk! Otherwise, they will tighten up. "Permanently lubricated" or not!

I have seen these boots used with metal bands tied around each end and they lasted for ever, I believe it was the metal line you tie on your grips to keep them from moving. If not the zip tie solution would work well though....
