my brother has a 03 cannibal that has the old style headlight covers and the a-arms are triangular and I have an 03 that has the arms with the rounded ends. Is there any difference in the geometry of these 2 arm styles or just the 03's were an updated version? I just now noticed this after months of him having his quad. His also had a silver clutch cover and mine has black and his engine case is a silver color and mine has a light cream color what is the differnce in these 2 quads?

..I have an 03 with triangular arms, buddy of mine has an 02 with the rounder style...I thought the triangular was the newer style?..From what i know there is no differents in geometry?..The sliver clutch cover ws on the last of the cannon's..sounds like your buddy has a newer one..yours may have been a left over 02 w/ 03 plastic?..
....whats old style headlight covers?.. im not sure what your talking about?..I only know of the very frist cannons have different ones"FX's"..I thought all others were the same?..

sure does it still has those on there. I knew there was a difference in the headlight covers I just noticed the a-arms and i was wondering if there was a geometry differance and the reason for the 2 different style arms I also noticed that the shock almost touch the front of the arms on the triangular style and mine on the rounded end style has plenty of clearance.

My early '02 Cannibal has the rounded a-arms.

so what are the pro's and con's to each style of a-arm why did cannondale change the design?

I don't know if one is better than the other. Most of Cannondales changes seem to have been more financially motivated rather than performance modifications. Only a guess though.

I think the triangular ones won't let you run a 4+1 offset wheel, and I am not sure if you can with the rounded ones or not.
