Fuel pump help!!

#1 Post by twisted »

Just got the motor back in, all the fluids are in, and go to start it, and just cranks... I look at fuel filter and its full to the gills, and its starting to come out of the quick connects (gastank). So im guessing its not sucking anymore, what could this be? please help quick., would like to start it tonight or tommrow.

Do you hear the fuel pump cycle on before you start it? Do you see a good stream of fuel returning to the tank?

The q/d fittings should not leak. Make sure that one of the o-rings from the fitting did not dislodge and block the fitting. Just pop them apart and look at them. You can get new o-rings at the hardware store.

Ya it sucked abit at the beginning (first prime, just to say about half a centimetre of gas went in) then I was cranking her and the fuel filter got super full, the quick connects are fine, its the fuel hose getting so full of gas, it cant contain it, so the fuel pump isnt sucking the gas.

Does it prime each time you hit the start button? If so look into the tank you can see return line fitting. If it does prime when you first hit start button after letting it sit for 2minutes you should see gas shooting out of that fitting into the tank.If you dont see the stream it is your quick disconnects.

So no fuel is squirting back into the tank? If you have the 03 tank with both quick connects at the front make sure you have not crossed the lines. The left side goes to the fuel pump. If thats right and fuel is not flowing take all the valves out of your quick connects. Both male and female have valves in them.

Its not the quick connects, they have akways been like this, its something with the fuel pump not grapping gas.

He also said the lines could be crossed. That would make sense since you said fuel was coming out of disconnects.
