I'm wanting to switch to a 14t countershaft sprocket, and am wondering if a half link would be a safe alternative to buying a new chain.

I wouldnt. What size rear are you running.I believe I used to run 14-42 and stock chain still fit.

I have a stock cannibal, never counted the rear sprocket. With the 14t sprocket up front I have no slack on the chain.

Hmm that sucks. How about running 14-39.Might be a little tall if your stock but chains arent cheap.Sprockets are.

Wer you able to find one with a tensil (sp?) strenght as high as the chain? I would be affraid to use one bought at a farm supply store. If it breaks and the chain just runs off and dosent damage anythting, it would most likely do this but if the chain wadds up, it could get expensive.

I do believe my good fellow that you can fit a 14t countershaft sprocket without having to purchase such a speciman as you have indicated. On the Savannah where we race the giraffes, both Mildred and I use 14 tooth sprockets up front, and I do believe that we had to adjust the rear eccentric to allow for a larger loop of chain.

If ever you are passing this way, do drop in for a gin and tonic now won't you.

Yours in quadding,

Brendal
