i have known of magnetic drain plugs and such but really anywhere else.,they may be a good idea on some machines but its almost like its a necessity on the dales'

Yeah, I guess other machines that rev limit out at 10k or less it may not be such an issue but any high reving motor will likely need them. I saw that Formula 1 mandated that the race engines be rev limited to 18k down from 19k to prolong engine life. (Just think if we had airbag type valve springs we could spin that fast too ;-) I would be really really surpised if the F1 motors dont have magnets etc to catch stuff in the oil.

My yz426 doesnt have them,surely they would help in just about any engine but they dont appear to be mandatory.I could put some in my 400ex while im thinking bout'it...

I have a drain bolt magnet and also an in-line rare earth magnet the cannonbomer set me up with. It's a nice little kit that is easily accessible.
