Could this be the next weakest link in our engines?!
Did I find the next possible weakness in our engines?? My engine has finally failed with ATLEAST 300 hrs. Here seems to be the culprit. This bearing just fell apart when i pulled my crank. This is the flywheel side crank bearing. "the one pressed into the case"

I personally feel that this is NOT a weak link on our motors. If you consider this bike does have 300hours, it should have been torn down at least 150 hours ago for a routine rebuild (rings, bearings, etc.) I have tried the ball bearings, with not much luck. The longest I have gotten out of them is around 90 motos. If you consider how much time you put on a bike per moto, nowhere near 300 hours. I have checked on several different types or brands of bearings (some thought to be better than others) and have resorted back to the stock torrington bearing.

I don't think those bearings are a weak link either. In my Yamaha TZ, Yamaha uses the same bearings. Those bikes regurlarly rev to 12,500. In all the years I have been racing TZ's (approx 10) I have never had a failure of that type of bearing. I did have my cranks redone approx every 1500 miles. I also had a few that went to 2500 and they were fine.
