If your crank builder doesnt know what step wear is on rod journals I suggest you walk out the door. The z400 bearing is definitely THE FIX ha. I believe my crank is one of the earlier ones, many many hard racing seasons, dune trips and whatever else you could throw at a motor and no failure yet...

colby know his stuff about dales he races one every now and then, i bet he it talking that your rod and pin are shot and if you just replace the rod bearing, with the parts that are worn it will just fail again i am sure that what he is talking about you need either a new reman crank or have a pin and rod and bearing replaced.
