Haydug does a fine job too! Not sure about the quiet core. I guess I'll find out this weekend. Jeff Stoess tells me the limit for GNCC is 104dB. I don't know the dB level now, but it's LOUD. Cutting the pipe didn't change the level significantly though. They will check and issue warnings at the first event. If I'm over, I guess I'll figure something out. for FL.

Here is what I found from another site that was talking about the DB level rules.

Here is the ruling right out of the 04 AMA rulebook:

"13. Exhaust System
a. The exhaust system must be attached securely together and to
the frame, and must remain so until the end of the event.
b. The discharge end of an exhaust system may not extend past
the rear edge of the back tire, nor point so that it creates dust
or interferes with the vision of another rider.
*c. Machines entered in all meets (except Drag Racing and
Bonneville Speed Trials) shall have mufflers/silencers which do
not exceed the maximum db(A) required by the state where the
meet is being held or 99 db(A), whichever is less, measured at
half maximum rpm per MIC manual SAE J1287 test at 0.5
meters (20 inches). This rule shall not apply to vintage machines.
Microphone
0.5 meters=20 inches
d. Effective with the 2004 competition season, machines entered
in open and cross country type events may not exceed 96db(A).
e. Applicable sound test limits may not be exceeded at any time
during an event. Testing by a promoter or club for compliance
at any time during an event is an option. Any machine not
complying with applicable sound rules may be penalized.
f. When required, spark arrestors shall remain in place
throughout the event.
g. This applies to all entrants, including pro riders."

This says GNCC will be down to 96db for AMA events...

Who knows... this talk has been around in every flavor.

i don't know, but i think that racers are going to find it very tough to scrung up another 500 bucks for an exhaust just to meet the new rules, especially the people who just got exhausts and now need to replace them? when they shouldn't have to until 5 years from now?..

Q: What is the sound limit for GNCC Racing?

A: AMA rules recommend a sound level of 96dbs. GNCC Racing will tolerate sound levels up to 104dbs. A sound level higher than 104dbs will not be tolerated, and GNCC Racing reserves the right to penalize and/or disqualify the machine from competition.
