Hey I have been looking for a 45 tooth rear for quite a while . I run big paddle tires in the winter and duning and can almost never use 5th gear. I have been using the 14 tooth in the front to keep the chain from rubbing on the slide. Anybody found a supplier that doesnt charge a ton to custom build a larger rear sprocket. I would also prefer a steel but the stock talon has been holding up incredibly well but is worn out . I did try a aluminum sprocket specialist one years ago but lasted about 3 rides before the teeth chipped off so I dont want aluminum.

I know the 250 supercross guys use a huge front sprocket and rear sprocket. They claim it affect the engine torque over the rear wheel, effectively giving your engine more rear wheel hp. They also claim it helps with rear suspension. I'm not sure about room for a 15t front sprocket, but maybe a 15/40 would be a good gear combo.
We'll get Lap some sprockets and some cheap chain up there and let him spend a day trying different gearing. I'm sure he will able to write an excellent article on what he finds.

I would be worried getting too big on the rear, pretty soon it will be dragging the ground. I don't think anything bigger than 43 or 44 will fit with a skid plate.

Wistech - I'd look at getting a 15T front rather than a bigger rear.

Took a look in the ATV parts catalog and on page 21 is the rear axle...
A 44t rear was available, can't for the life of me remember the part #, but it was there....If anyone needs it, search the usual places. wink.gif

Hey your right , there is a 44 tooth sprocket listed. Its not shown by the other sprockets and doesnt say what it goes on. Part #183-6000507 . Maybe it was for the glamis.

Thomes ,getting a bigger front sprocket would be gearing it crazy tall for 22 inch tires

What is the best gearing for MX? I have the jaybr map in it right now ( moto/Speed 110) how has that map worked for you? I also have a HMF silencer. Will my suspension make a difference? I'm running 18/10/8 holeshots with a +3 houser long travel front end and PeP Zps front and rear. Maybe a 14/39? Thanks for the info in advance!!

a 14/39 or as i run a 14/38 combo work great. i race a supercorss like track mostely with tight corners and no room to get up to speed, for that im going to run 14/42
