The DID chain was just the normal black color and I am sure rust would be a problem. We generally would use some sort of chain lubricant to discourage rust.

Been through using all the lubes religously.Nothing prevents rust like the Regina Gold unless its maybe other Gold chains.They seem to stretch less also.

My son lubes ours after each ride. uses WD-40 only. I'm embaressed to say it's probubly been over a year since last ride, I just walked out to the garage to look at the chains. there probubly is some surface rust somewhere but you better get a flashlight and get down close to find it. just wiped a link with my finger and you could read the D.I.D..
