Guys,

Can you name more than three models of motorcylce or quads that have roller mains?.......good luck

Crack any good motor open...and you will see ball bearings. Cannondale tried to reinvent the wheel on that choice, and it wasn't a good one.

Here is one. 450R. This is the upgrade kit for 04-05 450r cranks. Same bearing though. You know what makes me sick? You get the crank, both mainbearings, spacer and seals for $196!

About 6-9 months ago I recommended shimming the crank on a 450R that a buddy of mine had in his shop. The shims were a little different the ones I use on the Cannondale. I honestly believe that's the difference in the Cannondale factory cranks lasting 5 hours vs the few that have lasted 100 hours or more before going. I think a tighter side clearance allows the stock non-Z400 crank bearing to last a little longer. BUT, the crank will still be trashed!!! I still don't understand why everyone (no names) is not on the Z400 bearing bandwagon........

Funny thing is in '06 guess what rod bearing Honda switced to on their 450r? Yup, the famous Z400 bearing. Same width, everything.

Ya, and to think that two years after Kdeal posted that not everyone (no names) was on the Z400 bandwagon, they (no names) are STILL not on the bandwagon 100%!

I was at work looking for the part numbers of the SKF main bearings for Tim and found a whole pile of these great crank threads. Winkie's is still the best.
