Hey guys well i reinstalled my motor last week and it looks like it is leaking oil from the sidecover gasket below the shifter and corner of clutch cover... I know the bolts are all torqued to 3.3 lbs like the manual says...any explanition on why it would do this? would to much oil cause this even though there is no pressure against it?

If you used a new gasket, You might have gotten a piece of dirt or something in between the gasket & the cover. If you used an old gasket, it's hard to tell what is under it.smile.gif

That is right around where a locating pin is located.Might have gotten crooked or maybe it is actually your shift shaft seal leaking.

I am thinking speed2424 hit it on the head....I put a new sidecover gasket on and not all the old gasket came off....i was told it would be ok but i think there may have been to much old gasket on there to make a good seal....well i guess i need to drop the motor again and see whatsup

Getting the original gasket off is such a bear!! I swear it took me more time to clean off that gasket than it did to rebuild the motor! I don't blame you for wanting to quit trying. But, you should've kept on going!!! I'd bet that's the problem.

Man that sucks.I agree cleaning gaskets, silicone and Loctite is the biggest time consumer of a rebuild. Not to mention a frame flush.Amazing how quickly motor can be on bench once you do it a few times though.
