Group buy on Pistons???

I was thinking of upping the compression on our Moto and getting some custom pistons made from Ross. Would anyone be interested in one? I believe he needs 5 ordered?? I want 2, so I'm looking for 3 more.

It'd be the stock bore size, but alittle larger dome on it to bump compression up to about 13.2:1 or so. I've found a o-ring that will stand up to race gas also.

Any thoughts/ideas/takers????

If you can get a price for all of this I might be interested.

Since I'll have the motor out here shortly anyway, I might as well do some work on it. But a price would be nice first.

I am interested in two if reasonably priced.Jcv did you know that the cams are different than the original motors that had high comp piston which was made by wiseco? The specs in 2002 manual show a much smaller lobe height than we have in the new motors.New motors have more lift.So if you design the piston for old cams it wont work with new cams.

27,

Didn't know that. I'll have to look into that one.I'm calling tomorrow for prices on the pistons. Both of the pistons I want will be going into a 2002 motor.

But why won't a higher compression piston work with the new cams?

okay, the engines have the same cams but different valve shim stacks.

The 2002's have 2.8 on the exhaust and 2.75 on the intake
The 2003's have 2.6 on the exhaust and 2.55 on the intake...

So the 2003's would also have to order new valve shims????

What I am looking at is the cams themselves the lobe specs. If you were to put a old highcomp piston in a (new?)motor the valves might hit the piston.Where did you get 2003 specs?I really need the specs for 2003.If you can help me I would owe you.

I will get them for you tomorrow. I think we have them at the shop. Online in the Engine Parts PDF, it's listing the same part numbers for the 2002 and 2003 cams though. Just listing different valve shim heights. So I would guess the lift and duration should be the same?

2002 is the year they switched over to lower comp piston.I have no idea what month. And they never updated the engine service manual.I measured the lobe height on a late 2002 and compared it to specs in 2002 engine service manual cams are way bigger than what the specs say.
