ok the slipping thread is mia but i have a huge problem i have amotor maz built for his own personal use and he believes he may have put the clutch in and forgot to adjust.

i rode it all 4th of july weekend fne and then sunday the clutch felt like it was disengaging all the way like i would let it out but it was acting up then eventually it felt like it was in neautral no matter what gear i was in.so im like hmm.so it ended that ride and i got towed out by a banshee the day before towed out by my step dads honda grampcher cause of no gas:eek:

neways i pulled the clutch cover off and tightened the pressure plate bolts still didnt work so i pulled the plates.the outside plates were fine middle ones had grooves in them and inside ones were fine.so i put in new plates and it still doesnt work.i tried to adjust the pressure plate witht he 8mm nut and 2.5 mm allen bolt in center like jfarrar told me how but it wouldnt budge.i dont know what to do and i really want to ride.anyone got any ideas.im willing to take clutch completely out and do it from scratch if thats what it takes.please help!!!!

do you have the tool to loosen that nut on the clutch? You have to hold the center with something while you break the nut loose.

If you don't have the special tool.

Put the 8mm socket on the nut, and the allen wrench through the hole in the other end of the socket, then use a pair of vise grips to turn the socket.

You can also use an 8mm wrench, then you don't need the vice grips. I don't know about you guys, but that's what worked best for me.

How do you fit a wrench in there?

What do you mean? I didn't have any trouble on mine. If you can't get this to work maybe try adjusting before applying the clutch plates? Either way, I did mine with a wrench and allen key. Was there a production change that would make some bikes more difficult than others (other than clutch plate thickness)?

I don't know if there was a change or not. Here is a picture of my pressure plate, the nut recessed in too far to fit a wrench in there.

I've only done it once, I used a craftsmen wrench that came with a 241pc set I purchased. I slid the box end (12point, closed) over the nut and then slid an allen key through the center. I don't have my motor here, but give this a try and let me know how it works. I know the box end of my wrench was angled a bit, I just made sure that the crescent side was angled away from the clutch.

Does that make sense?

ok here is what i have 1 broken allen wrench and its stillnot budging.

im gonna try using a pressur eplate and the little adjuster in the senter from my bros quad.and im gonna try using basically a stock clutch setup with the exception of using two steels at the beginning to keep the pletes from hitting shifter mechanism which is the same one maz had in it.

now i have a question maz has washers between the pressur eplate and clutch springs that arent on stock clutches and i dont see and rhyme or reason for them:confused: .any ideas.ill let ya know if my idea works.

kyle:head:

and im on my dads name cause he has it auto logged in on his computer

yes, you could just take the clutch out, all except for the hub and basket, easy enough thru clutch cover. You can then tap the center adjust mechanism out of the pressure plate and work on it on the bench, or backfill it with penetrating fluid and soak for 2 weeks!!!

Or egads!, could somebody have use red loctite on it!!! need heat?

Anyway, something like that maybe worth a try, good luck.
