hello everyone, i am working on a buddys cannondale, and it seemed the fuel pump would not kick on before he gave it to me....thats what he said and it wouldn't. so i changed the feul pump on it thinking that that was the problem and it wasnt. the fuel pump is now good and does crank over as i heard it when testing it. the lights come on so i would assume the battery is good. when you turn it on you do not get the sound of the fuel pump kicking on and when you hit the start button you dont get anything....what could this be??? all input is appreciated.
thanks

you need to take a test light and check for power to the fuel pump, remember these have a switched ground so it will only be on when the ecu tells it to be on so it will only pulse when you turn the key and the kill switch on.
things to check
1 power to the pump
2 connectors from the eng. kill switch under by the steering stem
3 switched ground pulsing when the key is on

don't forget you can fry the ecu if you accidently ground the fuel pump power

so it could be the ECU then?

where can you pick up a cheaper ECU?

I wouldn't condemn a ecu unless I troubleshot it back to the ecu with a wiring diagram and proper testing .

I would replace the "starter" button first with these symptons.

replace the actual starter button?

also, the quad has power to both postivie and negative wires on the fuel pump, with key off....is this normal?

OK, if it will crank over, it is not the starter button. I thought you said it did nothing when you hit it.
