Cannibal Exhuast Question

Hello,
I recently purchased a 2002 Cannondale Cannibal ATV. The stock square exhaust that was on the bike was a bit beat up to say the least, it has a hole in it and is extremely loud, after taking it off the bike It sounds like there is stuff rattling around inside of it. So I have decided to purchase a new exhaust...I have heard other Cannondale owners usually get HMF pipes. My question is can I do away with purchasing just a slip-on or do I have to do a full exhaust system? Also are the HMF exhausts noticalibally quieter than a stock setup? I am looking to keep my Cannibal as quiet as possible and HP gains aren't a big concern.
Thanks,
Jeff Kahn
