Well bad news to start.. Something was wrong w/ something on my machine or the dyno.. We warmed it up and it started back firing alot on decel.. Glamister and I looked at each other in disbelief.. My quad hasn't back fired once since my rebuilt motor.. I also rode it down Sand Mtn in 5th gear w/ no popping of any kind just two days earlier..The AFR showed lean at 14-1 or so.. After the first few runs I showed a loss of 5hp and 2lb tq compared to my ATK450 set up.. Something wasn't right w/ this picture... We ran a few more runs after some richening of the flowrate w/ mediocre results at best getting only back to my ATK450 numbers.. I was very disappointed.. I did notice the rear tires hopping as the rpms got near 8000rpm and up.. We switched my BG pipe and mounted BW new pipe in less then 5 minutes.. There was some improvement, about 1 hp mostly.. I had a dip around 7000prms and BW's pipe didn't cure it, but it did help it about 2.5hp or so.. The numbers were still disappointing for the most part on my machine.. We then strapped the rear of the quad down really hard. I gained almost 3lbs tq and 3hp for a high of 28.5tq and 43.5 hp.. The rear Hooosiers appeared to still be hopping at high rpm as some dyno runs indicated as well as my visual.. We ran the throttle at about 1/4 open in 3rd and watched the axle nuts on both sides. They appeared to have a wobble, but I think that was mostly from the coating on the hub not being perfectly circular which gets exagerated as the rpms go up.. The axle appeared straight..We only ran a Moto/Speed map w/ TS of 110.. Started w/ a flowrate of 2250 and ended up at 2100 for a near perfect straightline. I got the AFR I needed, but overall something didn't seem right w/ the tires or dyno.. My quad pulls any dune one gear higher no matter how tall, steep or long and it takes more then 3hp and a couple pounds of tq to do that.. I couldn't get a printout since the laptop they normally used died and the temporary laptop isn't tied into the printer.. I talked with Monte an employee on his YFZ 470 w/ 14-1 piston on 10% alky and he isn't pulling Mount Mutha or the Valley side of Sand Mtn in any higher of a gear and we have the same lowered gear ratios from the stock set ups for each respected machine.. He pulled 51hp 34tq. Though mine won't beat his it is closer by our stories we discussed then the dyno surely would indicate.. Maybe a better map is needed to bring out the power of the stroker I am not quite sure.. I didn't have any maps loaded into my new laptop computer so I couldn't change it.. Ported LTR 450 numbers on Wed w/ CP piston,, stay tuned!!

A couple of suggestions that might help out. On ported engines you cant use the stock crush washers. They need to be flattened and matched to the holes in the head and pipe or they will become a huge restiction.
Make sure gas is fresh. Check for fault codes and do a throttle Cal before getting to the dyno.
Make sure your wheel bearings are not siezing and the rear brake is not dragging. Tires should be pumped up high and perfectly matched. That may have something to do with the wheel hop.

You should be using a ported engine map from Arron or the animals128

Even with reduced power the torque numbers seem about 5 pounds to low. You should be at 33 ft ilbs.
c27 had a similar issue when his valves tightened up. in fact his numbers were very close to yours. The engine still ran great and was fast but the dyno showed low 40's.

Good luck.

Yes but I was in low 40's with the lid off.So mine was clearly worse.Whole thing here is the airbox. If you want bigger numbers you will have to get rid of it in order to take advantage of your motors flow potential.

We checked all the normal settings before the first run. Everything was rosey.. Maybe I will get the Canniboomer air filter.. I'll run it this weekend w/ a map Acarlia sent me too..

Henry Did you ever get the dyno charts? I dont know how good they will be to us but at least we can see what the afr was to mod the map a little. With a little more effort you have 10 more horsepower waiting to be gained on your quad. Right now its struggling to make power with all the missmatched parts and an inapropriate map. On a Cannondale money does not equal power.

I never thought of the crush washers.....glad you brought that up. I have and extra set I may use now and ensure a better fit.

Somebody should come up with a set to be used for strokers.

Sand...the boomer intake made quite a bit of difference on my engine especially on the bottom end. And before that I had a stock airbox with short horn that was bored out to match my bored-out throttle body and the boomer intake made improvements on top of that improvement.

Try TS 130 also. 110 is a lot for a stroked motor.

I never did get the map because of the computer they were useing. It was a backup computer. Since the tires were hopping all over the place I feel it wasn't a very accurate day anyway.. I'm am gonna wait on Brads dyno.. I am hoping it will be done in a month or two but by winter I know it will be done.. Aaron could dial a map in on there dyno.. The dyno shop (KBR) is 5 minutes from his house.. Aaron,,,, send me a map to try out.

Brad's dyno is a motor only dyno. Be a great thing for testing motors before they are installed. I need to build a gadget like that. Would just be cool. I would just take the quad and D&M down to KBR and gitterdone.

guys, I found some crush washers that are a larger ID and OD, by a half-millimeter, and they still fit our heads perfectly. Also, they are gapped slightly at the seam, so after crushing they don't close up the ID as much. And, they don't fall out as easily while you are fumbling with the header... $3/pr

Boomer you da man.
When I port I custom fit every washer to the head and then port match to the header so its smooth. But if you are using stock washers without matching them all the port work is wasted. They would be like restrictor plates. Henry get the dremel out man.
