has anyone ever drilled out the epoxy and shimmed up the relief spring to raise the oil pressure,
i know they say these are high volume low pressure but i still think 3 to 9 psi is aweful low and
wonder if that also may contribute to the crank problems.

Oil pressure is kind of meaningless in an engine with needle, roller and ball bearings. A couple of pounds is all it takes to keep the parts coated and the piston cooling jet functioning. The crank problem was solved a long time ago. I have been running a clear cam cover and believe me there is plenty of oil flowing through the system.

I was just building them to keep an eye on the cams with the hardcoating. Sure beats pulling the cover to see how they are holding up. I think the pics are posted in the cwr cam thread.

yeah I seen it....a clear engine case would be a work of art if possible...

engine oil pressure is not measured in psi, it is measuered in bar. 1 bar = 14.5 psi. biggrin.gif

No it isnt.Canniboomer installed a pressure guage and confirmed. Its PSI.

Agreed, plus if it was in Bar, we'd be running 120+PSI at rev!

As far as shimming the spring or replacing it.I thought about it but noticed that both the checkball spring and the relief/bypass spring are both very close in tension.I am thinking that even with a heavier spring pressure would not be raised just more oil would go through filter. The pressure loss must be from the open bearings.Basicly our pumps push volume of oil and pressure isnt a real accurate way of measuring volume of which we do seem to have plenty of.
