LOL

Just do me a favor..if you have a stock piston and wrist pin laying around..out the wrist pin in the stock piston...its VERY snug...........NOW take a JE piston and stick the pin in it(specifically one for a short rod falicon)...lmao youll find that not only does the pin slide in flawlessly..but too easily and slops around.........this is the problem...(which alot know) .....so im using a stock wrist pin.....but its longer then the je wrist pin...soo im gonna haev the stock wrist pin machines down but im thinking this may hurt the finish or coating on the wrist pin...any thoughts.

Turbospeed440 is right. It should be done on a surface grinder. Stock pins have no coating, but you can get chrome plated wrist pins from wisco that should slow down the eating away of the wrist pin.I do believe the wrist pin to be eating away from the material of the piston rather than the fit.The size difference in the pin is .0003 .The purpose of the looser fit is in theory for more oil. When all pistons are heated at running temp. the all have a very loose fit like the je's,because aluminum expands faster than steel. The champher size and pin length must be held very closely because they are held in by wire clips if not pin won't fit or can smoosh the clip right into th piston from too loose of a fit. When the je's 1st came out I tryed a special coated wrist pin to prevent rod gaulling it worked great on stock asso pistons and wisco, but ate away at the Je's within an hour. All were recalled & every Je had the same result saying that they're using a different piston material than other manufacturers.Best choice of wrist pin for a Je would be a chrome plated wisco(would need modified), it has held up the best on Je if not stick with the Je.

If you are just going to sell it then I would suggest putting a stocker in there. That way you know the new owner won't have a problem. Givem the JE and let them decide if they want to get it put in. I would hate to see a new Dale owner go sour on something like that.
