I got a motor needing a crank, piston and sleeve in swap for some bodywork I had spare recently and when I took it apart I noticed the the decomp pin itself has been catching on the head casting. Just wondered if anyone else has had this before......?

I've seen it once before on one of the heads I bought as a spare. Decomp was so loose I didn't see how it was still attached.

The weight itself is pretty tight, I don't think the motor's done much, looking at the rest of it (not that it seems to matter!) The cams and followers are pretty mint.....

It looks like there has been a bit of core shift on the casting and the sides of the tappet-bore are higher up than usual.... If you look you can see very little of the bucket above the sides of the bore. Clearances are good and they have a 245 shim which is similar to the others I've had to bits....

My other heads are all at the flowbench guys place so I have none here to compare this one with....

Another interesting glitch to look out for....

Oh I see what your saying. The cam bearing was good? Was it still hitting when you took it apart?Maybe something happened previously to it.I never saw that before but it doesnt suprise me pretty rough casting.
