That's the good oil...

You get used to it. I spent about a year reaching down, and finally figured it out. These trannys are a blessing. Never once have I hit neutral in anger during a race which is miraculous. I have ridden some great transmissions before, and some crappy ones, but the Dale tranny is THE BEST hands down. Neutral is overrated anyhow... LOL

I think I did a post a few years ago on the neutral shift mod. Im sure the pics are deleted . Some of the early trannies were impossible to get neutral with the engine running. Anyway the shift detent lobe needs to have the edges sharpened so the roller doesnt skip over it. A 5/8" dremel sanding drum and about ten seconds of sanding does the trick. Its a standard update on all my engines that I dont know if the tranny has the issue or not. It was mostly a big problem on the early cable case tranny.

I'm just now starting to use a KTM master cylinder. It has a 10.5 bore to cdales 9.5 bore. I have very little time on it but so far its been great. Very easy pull and when I need neutral I just pull the lever to the grip and its easy to find.

So hit the detent lobe with a 5/8 dremel sand drum, how much of a improvment is this? 10k/in off?
