I was just wondering if the "special tool" is required the remove the crankshaft cartridge plate.

I usually take the bolts that hold starter on cover and hit the tips with a grinder to make them smooth then screw them into the plate. Out it comes.

alright thanks. i tried using the bolts that normally hold it on, but the left side wouldn't come up.

If it's not popping loose, once you get the "puller bolts" in and tight and it seems like nothing's happening, give the head of the bolt a tap with a hammer.

Don't forget to remove the 2 screws that hold on the oil pump.

are you using the manual? b/c it helps alot

I'd say use the manual,few things you didn't mention. Do you have the piston out? Do you have the flywheel off? Sometime lock tight on the stud's will hold the plate on.

Don't forget the pin in the oil pump.
