a couple weeks ago i bought a 2001 fx400 from a buddy of mine. There is a couple problems with it that i couldnt find answers to ive read alot on this site and cannondaler trying to learn as much as i could before asking stupid questions anyway here goes first is the idle is real high i read that its supposed to be around 2000 which i know is pretty high but this thing screams. I backed the idle screw all the way out checked all the vaccume hoses and made sure the throttle body is on and sealed up but it still does it. also checked the throttle cable to make sure that wasnt the problem i dont know what else to do. Soes it have anything to do with the screw that is on the front of the computer? im stumped

the other problem is the clutch the cable was snapped so he put a pair of vice grips on the clutch arm and was using that to get going well i guess now the clutch is stuck on, you can move it with one finger and you can hear the trans shift gears but its like someone is holding it on. is it possible that it could be stuck somehow?

High idle could be a leak in boot or maybe lack of fuel from quick connects.
Clutch take the cover off and take a look. Its possible the arm is turned all the way around or something also.
