Starter turns but crank does not????

Hello guys. Got an issue that I cannot figure out. I try to start my dale and the only thing that turns is the starter. At first, I thought it was the starter so I bought a new one. Then I thought it was the starter clutch, so I bought a another one. And still, the only thing that turns is the starter. Can anyone tell me what is going on. I am trying to avoid opening up the engine again. Thanks in advance.

Most likely the one way bearing on the counter balancer. If it's just spinning and not hooking up then it's bad. Unfortunately you've gotta tear open the engine for that. Ran into that last year. To make sure: remove starter and try to turn the gear it connects to inside. It should only spin one way freely. If you can turn it either way then it's done.
